Greetings faithful readers...
Well today was going to be like early Christmas for me....new iPods...maybe the Beatles on iTunes...
Instead I got mad. Mad at Apple, Inc. and more particularly Steve Jobs. You see, the price of my iPhone went down by 200 bucks. You can now buy the same iPhone I bought nearly 65 days ago for 200 dollars less. My question is, why?
To put more iPhones in hands? Sure....but what about the loyal, stand-in-line folks who took time off work to buy it. I know it was my choice. I know that if I didn't think it was worth $599 I should have never bought it....I know "that's the price you pay if you are an early adopter..."
I know all those things. I'm still a bit cheesed.
Here's a quote from an interview from USA Today. Steve Jobs was interviewed this afternoon after the keynote and here's what he said about the price cut...
Q: What do you say to customers who just bought a new iPhone for $599? Sorry?
A: That's technology. If they bought it this morning, they should go back to where they bought it and talk to them. If they bought it a month ago, well, that's what happens in technology.
"That's what happens in technology?" Really? Apple is not know for cutting prices at all...ever...they just replace products. I'm not talking refurbed stuff...I'm talking new products. They simply don't go on sale....Until now. HERE is the rest of the article.
Some are seeking refunds..some are looking for iTunes gift cards....I am looking for some sense in this move. Don't get me wrong....I love Apple. I love their computers, their software, and, yes, even my iPhone. It is still the greatest device I have ever carried. But c'mon. It still stings a little.
Allow me a minute to vent...and then get in line for the release of Leopard next month.
