37 Years Ago Today

Greetings Faithful Readers,

Today's my birthday.  I'm not sure how we are celebrating today...but I thought I'd share with you a few of my birthday parties from the past

1)  Multiple parties at McDonalds.
Games included drop the straw in the cup on the floor and guess what's in my hamburger.  Ronald never even showed up.  I did get to sit in the "Guest of Honor" plastic throne that the golden arches provided.  One year my uncle dressed up as Yoda and stopped in.  Seriously.  Bent over...wearing a brown trash bag and rubber mask.  May not sound like much now, but it meant a lot to a Star Wars crazed 9 year old...

2)  Circus Playhouse
The cousin to today's Chuck E. Cheese...but far superior.  The arcade was awesome, it smelled like feet, and had a Tron and Donkey Kong machine in it.  Nirvana for an 11 year old.  They had a "party robot" that came over to my table and began picking on me.  Being the clever pre-teen that I was...I put on 6 party hats all over my face and banged on the robot's head till the manager told me to stop.  Good times..good times.

3)  Friends @ the house
As I got a little older, I was allowed to invite a few dudes over for movie and pizza night.  The evening usually ended with a burping contest and somebody always threw up.  We played soccer in the back yard and usually broke one of the windows on the back porch.  Busted glass and puke...an amazing party combination

Some of my party themes:  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pac-Man, Mickey Mouse, the Circus, Star Wars, and Soccer.

Which brings me to today...we'll probably spend a quiet day at home together as a family and then join my mother at a restaurant.  We'll chat about life...I'll come home...watch a couple episodes of LOST and go to bed.  Oh, and I might drop a straw in a paper cup on the floor for old times sake.
