Making Room Monday

Greetings Faithful Readers...

Going to start a new Monday blogging tradition..."Making Room Monday" is my way of clearing off some mental shelf space by unloading what's been going on over the past week/weekend. Here's the first one...

Things have been off the hizzle for me lately...and I love it! Just wanted to give you all the deets about last week's Internet Campus launches

1) Student Ministry Online was incredible! We had 74 students join us from around the world! Pastor Scot was awesome on camera and his incredible team took care of everything! We gave away iTunes cards and DVDs...chewed some nasty gum...and partied like rockstars trapped in a tiny studio with purple foam on the walls... If you missed it, we're back on again this Wednesday @ 7PM (ET)...

2) Gears Online - another great night! We kicked off the 8-week session of Gears with Pastor Troy and Core! Running about 90 minutes, the video talked about why Flamingo Road does what it does, the ethos behind it, and what we believe. We had over 50 people connected...many chatted and asked questions...and I got the opportunity to host and answer all of those great questions...very cool stuff! This week: The Old Testament. Sounds dry? Trust me...it is off-the-chain! Thursdays @ 7PM (ET) - FRC Internet Campus

3) The Vikings did not lose this weekend. They play tonight.

4) Did a cool interview with DJ Chuang about our Internet Campus. You can find the article right HERE. I am speaking (along with fellow I/C Pastor, Brandon Donaldson from Lifechurch.tv) at a Webinar in November about our Internet Campus. It's a worldwide open forum and they are allowing 30 minutes of Q+A with Brandon and I. Should be very cool!

5) Heredes.com






6) Finished Rob Bell's Sex God (incredible...I'll review it soon) and am now reading through Click (I'll review this later, too...but suffice it to say that only tech-heads need apply)

7) Hey guys...any of you reading my Friday romance posts? Have I scared you all off? Trust me when I say that I am working on these things too!

OK...that's enough room in my head for new stuff...

Long-Distance Host

Greetings Faithful Readers...

Today I worked from home because I have a sick little girl....maybe she'll blog about it... anyway, I am the one of the hosts of a church/tech podcast called WebChurch....and we record on Wednesday mornings....

So I Skype-hosted. I called into the studio via VOiP and was recorded alongside the others that were on the show. I wan't physically part of the studio..but I was very much part of the experience.

Kinda sounds like the Flamingo Road Church Internet Campus... our campus might be virtual...but the experience is very, very real.

Some Changes to Vasilating

I've been doing some housekeeping and wanted to let you in on a couple of cool changes to the blog.

1) To the right, you should see a box labeled Skribit...this is a box to leave me your suggestion for future posts... Want to control the future of Vasilating? Want me to jump at your writing command like a trained monkey at the circus? Leave me a suggestion! I will try to get to as many suggestions as I can!

2) If you want to search for anything across the entire Vasil-verse...please use the Lijit search area in the sidebar. It will search through everything I am connected to...LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, etc... Anything I have ever uploaded or written about can be searched for there...

3) If you are a faithful reader....let the world know! Click the link in the sidebar marked "Follow this blog"... be one of the cool kids!

I am currently working on the Vegas videos and should have them up this weekend. Speaking of this weekend, it is going to be AWESOME on the Internet Campus!  We are continuing our series called "It Matters".

Greetings Faithful Readers...

Whew!  I made it!  My 500th post is here at last.  Thanks to all of you who stop by and check out the mental mush that makes up this blog.

I thought when I got to this point, I'd have something profound to share...some didactic morality play that explores the struggles of the human mental condition.

Instead I'm sitting here watching TV and wishing I hadn't drank all the milk this morning so I could eat a bowl of Lucky Charms.  Sorry.

This blog will always be real.  This blog will always be me.  I don't know any other way to write.  Stick around for the next 500...it should be a blast.

I am so proud of my digerati...er  diger"hottie"...her blog is featured once again on the front page of the Wordpress.com website!  She works very hard on her blog and I love to see when she gets recognized for that!  It's hard to believe that it was just a couple years ago that she wondered what a blog even was.  Way to go, sweetheart!  I knew that I married a gorgeous girl...I didn't know you would emerge into such a techno-butterfly!  Congrats!

Well, I must tell you...I didn't think it was going to have to happen...but I've got to switch blog looks again. This one is beating up my archvied pages....photos out of place...links lost...poor coding ...I've been pouring over the CSS and can't find out why...

Thus- it's time to start looking for a new look. If you refresh this page late tonight, you might see several different looks within minutes of each other...could be fun!

What’s Happening to Your Blog?

Greetings Faithful Readers...

Yes, that is the question...what is happening to Vasilating? Well, in my thirst for knowledge I have begun to learn CSS, XML, HTML, and XHTML to create my own web templates and such (if you don't know what those mean...it's nerd-speak for website creation languages.) As the Internet Campus Pastor, I not only want to know how to do what I do in front of the camera better..I also want to know what is going on behind the scenes on the page. I have been pouring through books every night until the wee hours cramming all that good stuff into my brain.

I say all that to say that what you see here on my blog will be the result of my experimentation. I am not moving the blog again from www.brianvasil.com. However, the look may be different and (more importantly), your experience with my blog may change. I am trying to add functionality, interactivity, and a "wow" factor to the content available here. I hope we all benefit in the process.

So don't worry...I'll be back posting about Darth Vader costumes and IKEA soon enough...
