Day Three in the Desert

Greetings Faithful Reader...

I have been asked why I didn't post a video each day bringing you along on my journey....basically it's the old "What happens in Vegas...stays in Vegas."  No.  Not really.  I actually shot a bunch of video and hope to post some of it soon.

The trip has been great so far.  I've learned lots!  Here are some of the companies I've met with over the last 3 days:  Microsoft, Flip4Mac, Adobe, Sony, Lynda.com, Western Digital, Newtek, Apple (FCPUG meeting), Topaz Labs, Killer Tracks, Arri, Kino-Flo, and Lowell.  That's to name a few...a great week of contacts and tech talk.

I'd like to take just a second and make a list of 10 things I've experienced while here in Las Vegas.

1)  They had 2 live lions in a holding area at the MGM Grand hotel.  The male came within 3 feet of me at the glass.  That was the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. (see photo)
2)  The Casino in our hotel smells like armpit.  No lie.  Stale from smoke and the sweat of gamblers giving up their nest eggs.
3)  All hotel buffets have egg rolls and bread pudding.  Guaranteed.
4)  Caesar's Palace has a full mall inside the lobby of it.  I felt very Roman there... (see photo)
5)  I found a machine that paid homage to our own Pastor Troy.... (see photo)
6)  Magician Lance Burton is performing in our hotel.  We were making fun of him in the lobby and were afraid he was going to magically appear in front of us like The Count on Sesame Street and ask us to stop.
7)   I geeked out at the "Star Trek Experience" at the Hilton.  I had my picture taken with this character "The Gorn" (see photo).  The geeky part was that I knew what he was called before going up to get my picture taken with him.
8 )   The Bellagio is still my favorite hotel on the Strip.
9)   Video editors do not make good MC's for a Final Cut Pro User's Group meeting.  It's kinda hard to find that gentle yet pathetic blend of Chuck Woolery and "Booger" from Revenge of the Nerds.
10)   I can rock a skully. (see photo)  I'm not going to lie...

That's it so far...I'm sure more will shake out in the next couple of posts.  Thanks for reading!
